THE BILLS, FOR ANOTHER BLOW OF AUTHORITY

If the NFL’s 2022 campaign were to conclude this week, both the Bills and Jets — who meet today in Buffalo — would qualify for the playoffs.

But this campaign still has life and both are playing important positions.

Buffalo does not want to cede the privileged place to the Chiefs, to maintain a home advantage, while the Jets are one game ahead of the other contenders: The patriots vs Chargers.

The Bills need to win to maintain the lead over Kansas City, but also to avenge the affront of a few weeks ago, when they fell (17-20) at home to the Jets.

That game stood out for two reasons: It made clear that New York is no longer a team of the bunch, but can challenge anyone and also sneak into the postseason for the first time since 2011, to end the longest drought in the league.

Also, the ferocious attack he launched on quarterback Josh Allen, who was injured after an afternoon full of shaking.

To prevail, Buffalo depends on the contribution of receiver Stefon Diggs, second in accumulated yards per pass (1,212 and 10 touchdowns).

Diggs needs six catches to become the sixth player in history to receive at least 100 passes and accumulate 1,000 yards in three consecutive seasons.

Unfortunately for Buffalo, the Jets went from being the worst defense in the league in 2021 (points accepted) to becoming the tenth this year, where they receive just 10.9 – on average – per game.

To season the clash, it is worth highlighting the performance of the quarterback of the Jets, Mike White. This year, when Zach Wilson was benched, he racked up 315 yards in beating the Bears, and 369 in a narrow loss to Minnesota.

The dish looks extremely attractive. Great rivalry.
