Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen led his team to a 32-29 win over the Miami Dolphins on Saturday with four touchdown passes in Week 15 of the 2022 NFL season.
With the win, they’re fifth in a row, the Bills are close to clinching the American Conference East division title with 11 wins and three losses. They also clinched their place in the playoffs on Saturday.
The Dolphins’ loss, their third in a row, left them with a record of 8-6 in second place in the same division. In addition to the four touchdown passes Allen passed for 304 yards; he was caught twice and dropped a fumble.
For Miami, Tua Tagovailoa totaled 234 yards and two touchdowns. Raheem Mostert rushed for 136 yards. In the game, the Dolphins took the lead thanks to a field goal in the first quarter.
The Bills responded with a fast-paced offense; in less than two minutes they went 75 yards, culminating with a touchdown throw from Allen to Quintin Morris that put them up 7-3.
Miami cut it to 7-6 early in the second half with another three-point kick. The Bills closed the second quarter strong with a pair of touchdowns through the air, the first to Nyheim Hines and one more to James Cook.
Before halftime, Miami pulled within 21-13 with a Salvon Ahmed touchdown on the ground. Raheem Mostert’s work for the Dolphins was outstanding in the first two periods with 108 yards per carry against the fourth-best run defense in the NFL.
Early in the third quarter Miami nearly tied it. Tagovailoa connected with Jaylen Waddle, who escaped 67 yards to the diagonals, leaving the score 21-19 as they missed the two-point conversion.
The Dolphins’ dominance was maintained thanks to their defense which left the local offense at zero in the period. The offense led by Tua took advantage of this situation with its second touchdown throw, this time to Tyreek Hill, which turned the score 21-26.
In an attempt to react at the beginning of the last period, Miami’s defense caused a loose ball by Allen that was recovered by Christian Wilkins who left his offense at the opponent’s 47-yard line, a field position that they converted into three points to go away 21-29.
The Bills’ offense woke up in the final period. Allen connected on his fourth touchdown throw of the game, found Dawson Knox at the end zone and tied it 29-29 with a two-point conversion in the midst of a heavy snowfall.
