Club Brugge pitch and stadium vandalised, KAA Gent distances itself from the facts
Club Brugge did not find the Jan Breydel stadium this morning as it had left it. Last night, vandals placed graffiti on a wall inside the stadium.
In the center circle, “9K” was burned into the field. That is a reference to 9000, the postal code of Ghent, this afternoon’s opponent.
In the meantime, the graffiti has been painted over, but the damage on the lawn will still be visible at the first whistle.
AA Gent responded on its website and distances itself from the facts:
“The perpetrators are still unknown, but KAA Gent wants to distance itself from the facts. Vandalism has nothing to do with football and shows no respect for the opponent. The police will investigate this case.”
At the beginning of November, the confrontation between AA Gent and Club Brugge got out of hand. Then, before the match, a tasteless banner about ex-player Roman Yaremchuk was removed and skirmishes between supporters and police ensued.
