The Packers’ season has been a colossal disappointment up to this point. Not only has Green Bay failed to take advantage of another 13-win campaign, but the Packers (5-8) have nearly made it out of playoff contention with five weeks remaining.
Aaron Rodgers is nothing like the quarterback who won two consecutive MVP awards, indicating that the problems in Green Bay’s offense could run deeper than just the loss of Davante Adams.
A step forward has been consistently followed by two steps back throughout this Packers season, but a Week 13 win over the Bears inspired some hope that a miraculous run to the playoffs is still a possibility.
Are the Packers playing today?
The Packers are off in Week 14 and won’t play this weekend. If that sounds like an unusually late farewell week, it is. Week 14 is the last week any team has a break, and the Packers are one of six teams that have their week off so late in the season.
After the bye, Green Bay essentially has to win its final four games to have a chance at a playoff berth. The Packers face the struggling Rams on “Monday Night Football” in Week 15 before matchups with the Dolphins, Vikings and Lions to close out the season.
The break could also allow Aaron Rodgers, playing with oblique and thumb injuries, to recover before the final stretch.
