The NFL, the professional American football league, announced Thursday that the opening game of the 2023 season will feature the champions, the Kansas City Chiefs, and the Detroit Lions on September 7.
The Chiefs, led by Patrick Mahomes, MVP of Super Bowl LVII and the 2022
season, will open the season at their home, Arrowhead Stadium, against coach Dan Campbell’s team.
Week one also highlights the presence of Aaron Rodgers in front of the New York Jets on September 11, in the first “Monday Night Football” of the campaign. The Jets will host the Buffalo Bills, led by Josh Allen, at MetLife Stadium.
The Green Bay Packers, playing for the first time in 18 years without Rodgers, will make their road season debut against the Chicago Bears, the NFL’s longest-standing rivalry dating back to 1921.
Jordan Love, the 24-year-old quarterback who was Rodgers’ three-year backup, will be making his first start for the Packers.
Among the most attractive games on the calendar is the one they will hold in week five at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara California, the San Francisco 49ers, with their stars George Kittle, Christian McCaffrey and Nick Bosa, and the Dallas Cowboys, led by Dak Prescott.
In week eight steals the attention the clash between the two teams of the city of New York, the Giants and their ‘quarterback’ Daniel Jones, against the Jets of Rodgers.
Week 13 will have one of the most anticipated clashes at Lincoln Financial Field, home of the champions of the National Conference (NFC), the Philadelphia Eagles, who will face the 49ers, teams that played the NFC final last season.
Kyle Shanahan, coach of the Gambusinos, acknowledged his enthusiasm to clash again against the Eagles.
“I want to play against them and make sure our whole team is there. We feel like we couldn’t do it last time, but we’re ready to come back,” Shanahan said in reference to the NFC title game being defeated due to the early injury suffered by his quarterback, Brock Purdy.
On Thursday, the league also reported that on Christmas Day, in addition to the game between the New York Giants and the Philadelphia Eagles, the Chiefs will also play against the Las Vegas Raiders.
