Katie Taylor vs. Chantelle Cameron: Date, time, channel, price & undercard for 2023 boxing fight

Katie Taylor could have been forgiven for taking a soft touch after pound-for-pound counterpart Amanda Serrano withdrew from their eagerly anticipated rematch due to injury. However, the Irish star has done the complete opposite and agreed terms to face undisputed super lightweight champ, Chantelle Cameron.

Taylor, 36, is coming off a unanimous decision win over Karen Elizabeth Carbajal in October. From there, the plan was to run things back against Serrano, whom Taylor outpointed last April in what was later named The Sporting News Fight of the Year.

“Once Serrano pulled out this was the natural fight to make,” said Taylor, who is undisputed at lightweight. “It’s two undefeated, reigning undisputed world champions going up against each other and I believe that’s the first time that’s ever happened in the modern era of the sport.

“People have been talking about this fight for a long time now, so I’m delighted it’s happening and I’m looking forward to becoming a two-weight undisputed champion in Dublin on May 20.”

The 31-year-old Cameron had been earmarked for an April 1 title defense on the Anthony Joshua-Jermaine Franklin undercard in London. But when her name was thrown into the Taylor sweepstakes following Serrano’s withdrawal, it was music to the unbeaten champion’s ears.

“It feels surreal that the fight is actually happening,” said Cameron. “It feels like my whole professional career has been based around this fight and I never imagined it would actually happen for one reason or another.

“To successfully defend my belts against Taylor will be the icing on the cake for me. To become undisputed and then defend them against the pound-for-pound best in women’s boxing will really mark my place in women’s boxing and create my own legacy.”
