The League Two club has been quick to respond to a tabloid front page headline claiming that the billionaire was looking to buy the “oldest soccer club in the world.” The club’s official X/Twitter page shared a statement on the rumor. Signed by current owners Alex and Chris Reedtz, the statement not only responded to the claims but also included some Easter eggs in the form of Swift song titles.
Notts County FC denies reports that Taylor Swift wants to buy club
“As sorry as we are to disappoint the Swifties in our fan base, we’re going to have to shake this story off,” the response began. “There is certainly no bad blood between us and Taylor, but, at such an exciting time for us and for the club, she surely couldn’t have believed in her wildest dreams that we would relinquish our control.”
The statement ended, “We will leave a blank space in tomorrow’s pre-match playlist for a track from her newly re-released 1989 album as a gesture of gratitude for her interest.”
Notts County further mocked rumors that Swift wanted to buy the team by imposing the singer’s face on the body of one of the owners while holding the National League play-off trophy. The caption read, “#Taylorsversion.”
If Swift had really been interested in buying the team, she wouldn’t have been the first Football owner within her group of friends. Actor Ryan Reynolds, husband of actress Blake Lively and a good friend of Swift’s, bought Wrexham AFC with Rob McElhenney in 2020.
In other Taylor Swift news, former soccer star Rob Gronkowski has shared his thoughts on the NFL’s focus on Swift during games.
Adams argued that soccer hasn’t changed since Swift started attending more games recently and that her attendance will, in turn, attract more viewers to the sport.
Gronkowski’s comments come after the NFL earlier this month defended its extensive coverage of Taylor Swift amid ongoing rumors that she is dating Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

On the other hand, the pop singer fueled more speculation that she will appear in the upcoming Deadpool 3 movie after she was spotted with the film’s director this week.
Swift’s involvement in the upcoming film has neither been confirmed nor denied, but the pop megastar was recently spotted at a Kansas City Chiefs-New York Jets soccer game with Reynolds, Jackman and director Shawn Levy, which has triggered speculation.
This week, Swift was spotted strolling around New York with the film’s director, Shawn Levy, fueling speculation about her possible appearance in the highly anticipated sequel.
Swift also released “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” today (Oct. 27). In a five-star review, NME states, “‘1989 (Taylor’s Version)’ is more symbolic than her previous reissues. Not only is it a step closer to having a full catalog of albums of her own, but it’s also a celebration of the moment when Swift really took ownership of her pop sound.”
He continued, “As we witness the biggest year of Swift’s career to date, the artist’s ability to reinvent herself while still respecting her core project only grows. Traveling back in time, it’s a reminder that Taylor Swift’s future may hold so much more that will continue to surprise us.”
