According to Monday’s official NFL transaction sheet, Pittsburgh Steelers deep Damontae Kazee has just served his three-game suspension for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy. However, he still remains on the team’s Reserve/Injured list.
Steelers S Damontae Kazee removed from suspended list Monday
Kazee, who signed a one-year contract with the Steelers during the offseason, served all three games of his suspension while on the Steelers’ Reserve/Injured list with an arm/wrist injury sustained during the team’s preseason finale.
During the Steelers’ preseason action, Kazee recorded 13 total defensive tackles and one resulted in missed yards. He was also credited with an entry of special equipment. Including special teams action, Kazee recorded 93 plays in total during the preseason.
Kazee was injured on August 28 and underwent surgery shortly thereafter. It’s hard to say if the Steelers will soon open their 21-day window for a designated player to return. Once that window opens, Kazee can practice again and then the Steelers will have 21 days to activate him on their 53-man roster.
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin will hold his weekly press conference on Tuesday, so we’ll wait and see if he offers any information about the possibility of Kazee opening his 21-day window soon.
