George Kittle and Deebo Samuel of the San Francisco 49ers; Davante Adams of the Las Vegas Raiders; Justin Jefferson of the Minnesota Vikings; and Amon-Ra St. Brown of the Detroit Lions; will be the stars of the Netflix series called ‘Receiver’, the NFL announced Tuesday. the Professional American Football League.
“Last summer we were thrilled to see everyone dive into the lives of NFL quarterbacks. Now we’ll do it with the extraordinary skills of the league’s great receivers; it’s going to be a perfect follow-up,” said Joe Zucco, supervising producer at NFL Films.
‘Receiver’ is an eight-episode series that will premiere next summer as a continuation of the relationship that the NFL and Netflix began with the series ‘Quarterback’, starring Patrick Mahomes, Kirk Cousins, and Marcus Mariota, which was among the 10 most watched shows on the platform worldwide last year.
“The natural progression from a pass to a catch, so now we’re excited to dive into the world of ‘Receiver’ after the success of our ‘Quarterback’ series,” said Gabe Spitzer, vice president of sports at Netflix.
The league chose five of its best receivers to show their day-to-day work in practice, their preparation, and performance before, during, and after games.
The series is produced by NFL Films, Omaha Productions, and 2 PM Productions. One of the executive producers of Omaha Productions is Peyton Manning, a former Super Bowl XLI and 50-winning quarterback and NFL Hall of Famer.
“We are excited to work again with Netflix and NFL Films to give fans unprecedented access to feel what it’s like to play receiver at the highest level. Like we did with ‘Quarterback,’ we hope to tell the story of five incredible receivers,” Manning said.
