Gervonta Davis vs Ryan Garcia live fight updates, results, highlights from 2023 boxing fight

After all the trash-talking and social media callouts, Gervonta Davis vs Ryan Garcia will finally settle their differences inside a boxing ring on April 22.

The catchweight bout is inside the T-Mobile Arena and airs on DAZN and Showtime PPV in the U.S. Davis, the WBA (Regular) lightweight champion, will not put his title on the line.

There have been comparisons between Davis and Garcia due to their power and maturity at such young ages. Savvy in social media, both young guns have negotiated terms from this fight at press conferences and Instagram Live sessions. After years of waiting, fans will finally see what could be a generational fight.

“We always hear about styles make fights, and in this case, it’s never been more true,” TGB Promotions President Tom Brown stated. “This fight will be an instant classic and an all-out war. This is going to be like Marvin Hagler vs. Thomas Hearns, and in ‘Tank’ Davis, we have Hagler.”

A 2012 Golden Gloves champion, Davis turned pro in 2013. A three-division champion, Davis won the WBA (Regular) lightweight title against Yuriorkis Gamboa in 2019. Davis’ last bout was a TKO win in January against Hector Luis Garcia. At 28, he has 26 wins via knockout.

The 24-year-old Garcia beat Luke Campbell in 2021 to win the interim WBC lightweight title. His last fight was against Javier Fortuna in July, beating him via TKO. “King Ryan” has 19 wins via knockout and decided to forgo a bout in January to focus on Davis.

Negotiations for this fight included a rematch clause on the side of Davis and a ten-pound rehydration clause. The catchweight bout is at 136.
