49ers Rumors: Jimmy Garoppolo to ‘Be Fully Cleared Around Mid-August’ from Injury

The San Francisco 49ers wanted to trade quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo before the start of training camp in July, but a shoulder injury has prevented such a transaction.

However, the quarterback’s rehabilitation has made outstanding progress and trade could happen soon. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the QB recently visited Dr. Neal ElAttrache, who operated on him during the offseason, and received the good news that Garoppolo will be fully released in mid-August.

In the same report, Rapaport notes that the still 49ers quarterback has been throwing for the past few weeks with the goal of being able to make several deep passes and simulate a game experience. Twitter Link

During the 2021 NFL season, the former New England Patriots quarterback played 15 games, all as a starter, and won nine of them. Also, ‘Jimmy G’ accumulated 3,810 yards, 20 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions after completing 301 of the 441 passes he attempted.

Possible destination

According to the latest reports, and due to the league-wide quarterback situation, the Seattle Seahawks are the only team interested in acquiring Garoppolo in a trade. Pete Carroll’s team has Drew Lock, Geno Smith, and Jacob Eason on the roster, and a battle for the starting job between the first two is expected.
